His words never fail

I am complete in Christ.

Last week, our church had a conference for its’ youth and young adults. I was really hoping to get a lot out of it - that it would be some kind of turning point.

Although the speakers were great and there was so much to ponder on, for some reason I couldn’t receive it properly in my heart. It was so frustrating! I was hungry for faith, passion and purpose, but my heart hadn’t caught on fire. I mean people were getting baptised in the Holy Spirit and getting healed, but some how…I was struggling in my striving. 

But then today, whilst finally finishing off reading the biography of Hudson Taylor, the same realisation he received, resonated within me as well. I needed to abide. Not to strive for more, but to just rest in God! He lives in me, and through Him I am complete. I already have all I need, through Christ who is within me!

I’ve always known that, but to know in your mind versus knowing in your heart, is a different story. Once it finally gets to your heart, that one realisation can change your entire mindset. There’s no need to be discouraged, or feel condemned. What a source of strength and joy!

Hudson Taylor

John Pollock writes in a biography of the man:

‘Hudson learned to live each day without knowing whether he would have money for the next, and once even gave away his last half-crown to save the life of a starving Irishwoman; on that occasion the very next morning’s post brought a half-sovereign tucked in a pair of kid gloves from a donor whose identity he never traced.’

May we too learn to possess such faith of the heroes of history, for our God provides.
