Hudson Taylor
‘I thought to myself when I get out to China I shall have no claim on anyone for anything; my only claim will be on God. How important, therefore, to learn before leaving England to move man, through God, by prayer alone.’ Hudson Taylor
John Pollock writes in a biography of the man:
‘Hudson learned to live each day without knowing whether he would have money for the next, and once even gave away his last half-crown to save the life of a starving Irishwoman; on that occasion the very next morning’s post brought a half-sovereign tucked in a pair of kid gloves from a donor whose identity he never traced.’
May we too learn to possess such faith of the heroes of history, for our God provides.
